Ask a Question About This Course
If you have a passion for scuba diving and want to travel the world seeking adventure and exciting experiences, then you have found the right place. Teaching people to scuba dive allows you to share your love of the aquatic world while doing what you enjoy – being in, around and under water.
PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors are the most in demand dive professionals in the world. This is because they’ve completed the world’s most progressive and popular scuba diving instructor course, The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is made up of two parts – 1- PADI Assistant Instructor course (AI) and 2- PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course (OWSI).
Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and go on to attend PADI Instructor Examination (IE), which is the final step to becoming a PADI Instructor.
Dive professionals with a professional rating from another organization may be eligible to enroll in the PADI IDC .
Who Can Enroll on the PADI IDC?
A PADI Divemaster who has been a certified diver for six months, may enroll in the PADI Instructor Development Course.
You also need:
- At least 60 logged dives to start the IDC and 100 dives to attend an IE.
- Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.
- A medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

What does the Instructor Development Course teach you?
Our 10-day program will teach you how to conduct all PADI core courses. You’ll be able to organize and present information as well as conduct skill development sessions and open water training dives.
You will become a better public speaker, develop first-class underwater demonstration skills and learn how to supervise and control student divers whilst ensuring diver safety.
You will learn how to anticipate and solve common problems that occur when training divers, as well as correct positioning, so you are always close to respond.
